JAMES EUGENE FARROW, CORPORAL, USMC, KERMIT, WINKLER COUNTY, TEXAS AWARDS AND DECORATIONS Marine Corp Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal BIOGRAPHY James was originally from Alexander City, Alabama where he grew up. He lived there until he dropped out of high school to join the Marine Corp at age 17 during the Korea Conflict in 1953. After he discharged in 1956, he returned home to Alexander City, Alabama and came to Kermit, Texas to work in the oilfields. While in Kermit, he ran into some legal problems and elected to return to the Marine Corp in 1958 using Kermit, Texas as his home of record. The date of the start of his Vietnam tour is not available. In Vietnam, he was assigned as a Tank Assault Crewman and was assigned to I Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, First Marine Regiment. He was murdered in Quang Nam Province in South Vietnam on December 10, 1968. Details are not available. He was buried with full military honors in the Hillview Memorial Park Cemetery in Alexander City, Alabama.
