He enlisted in the Marine Corp on June 6, 1967 entering at Abilene, Texas He completed his recruit training at the Marine Recruit Training Depot at San Diego, California and then completed his ITR as a rifleman/machine gunner at Camp Pendleton, California. He was assigned to the 8^th Marine Regiment at Camp Lejuene, South Carolina in December 1967. and reassigned to Camp Pendleton to serve with the 28^th Marine Regiment at Camp Pendleton in February 1968. He began his tour in Vietnam on June 14, 1968 and was assigned to Company B, 1^st Battalion, 9^th Marine Regiment, 3^rd Marine Division. He served as a machine gunner. He was killed on August 22, 1968 in the Quang Tri Province. He was buried with full military honors in the Chapel Hill's Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Osceola, Indiana Chapel Hills Memorial Gardens-Osceola, Indiana VIRTUAL WALL .
