PEDRO JUAN RODRIGUEZ, LANCE CORPORAL, USMC, SAN ANGELO, TOM GREEN COUNTY, TEXAS AWARDS AND DECORATIONS Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Vietnam Military Merit Medal BIOGRAPHY Pedro was born in Del Rio, Texas and spent his early years there and then the family moved to San Angelo where he attended San Angelo schools. He enlisted in the Marine Corp on June 6, 1967 entering at Abilene, Texas He completed his recruit training at the Marine Recruit Training Depot at San Diego, California and then completed his ITR as a rifleman/machine gunner at Camp Pendleton, California. He was assigned to the 8th Marine Regiment at Camp Lejuene, South Carolina in December 1967. and reassigned to Camp Pendleton to serve with the 28th Marine Regiment at Camp Pendleton in February 1968. He began his tour in Vietnam on June 14, 1968 and was assigned to Company B, 1st Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. He served as a machine gunner. He was killed on August 22, 1968 in the Quang Tri Province. He was buried with full military honors in the Chapel Hill's Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Osceola, Indiana
