FELIX DENNIS RIDGE, PRIVATE FIRST CLASS, U.S. ARMY, LAMESA, DAWSON COUNTY, TEXAS BIOGRAPHY Felix was born in Lamesa, Texas, the son of Virgie Pope and Thomas Ridge. He attended Lamesa schools and was a 1967 graduate of Lamesa High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on February 2, 1968 and completed his basic training at Fort Polk, Louisiana. While in the Army, his father passed away and his mother moved to Quanah, Texas.
He then completed Advanced Training as a Water Trestment Specialist at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. After a 2 week leave, he started his tour in Vietnam on June 23, 1968. He was assigned to the 606th Engineering Detachment (Independent) under the operational control of the United States Army-Headquarters (USARV).
He drown on December 8, 1968 while swimming in an authorized beach area near Tuy Hoa, South Vietnam. His remains were found the following day washed ashore.
PFC Felix D. Ridge was buried with full military honors in the Quanah, Texas Memorial Park Cemetery.
